When Dirty Jobs star Mike Rowe saw that Nordstrom was selling $425 jeans covered in fake ‘mud’, he got extremely annoyed. So he took to social media, posted a rant on his Facebook page, and said “The Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans aren’t pants. They’re not even fashion. They’re a costume for wealthy people who see work as ironic – not iconic.” Source Source 2 Source 3
I’ve heard that there was a time when people were buying used jeans from cowboys. Like, they paid extra for stained, torn jeans from actual cowboys. It was incredibly stupid, but hey, at least the cowboys benefited.
Forget “fake” mud stains! Go for authenticity. Let’s bring the mud and cow poop-stained look back into fashion. If the 1% want to shell out cash for fashionably work-stained clothing, then they can pay cowboys for the privilege while the cowboys do the intelligent thing and buy themselves new jeans in good condition.
